What Is Goji Berry?

Goji berries are the small red fruits of the goji berry shrub. The plant is a member of the nightshade family, which includes tomatoes and pepper.Goji, or wolfberry, is used in traditional Chinese medicine and in food preparations in China.

Wolfberry is actually divided into two sub-species, which are known asย Lycium barbarumย andย Lyciumย chinense, both belonging to theย Solanaceaeย family. Wolfberry is native to China but is also grown in the warmer regions around the world, including Australia, North America, the Mediterranean basin, Central Asia, and Southwest Asia.It is mentioned in the ancient medicine book โ€œTractate for Herbs and Their Properties,โ€ claiming that goji berries can help restore lost body liquids, calm the soul and rejuvenate the skin. In another ancient Chinese book named โ€œHerbs and Food Healing,โ€ the berries are said to help repair muscles and tendons and provide protection from illnesses. China is the biggest exporter of Wolfberry in the world.The English name Goji is derived from the Mandarin nameย gouqi.

  • ยผ tsp Pepper
  1. In a large salad bowl add Spinach and top with Feta, Pecans, Apple, andย Goji Berries.
  2. In a small glass jar add EVOO, Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Salt, and Pepper.
  3. Put a lid on the jar and shake vigorously until blended.
  4. Pour dressing onto salad.

Going through your blog made me feeling blessed that the nature has given us so many fruits that can make us healthy and are essential for our inner deficiencies and GOJI BERRY is one of them,thought this fruit has its native in my neighbour country china but it is rarely found in my home town so hoping for to taste it once.
