Hi everyone!🙋Well, a lot of things are happening last days. One of them is trouble with my blog. But thanks, God I solved this. Yesterday I stayed 4 hours preparing my blog post. When I was editing & I thought to send to my friend and I copied. After that, blog post disappeared. To be honest I was sad, cause I put so much effort in that blog post & I deleted accidentally. Then another trouble my😖 blog was not secure so I changed browser. These days I’ve been so stressed & with a lot of things to do. My parents are not in-house for some days so I’ve to take care of my siblings. This is not easy. But I’m managing very good. I feel very good that parents trust me so much that’s why I don’t want to disappoint them. So as I am the only one who can cook in the house I try different recipes. Some I realize very good & others no.😂Christmas & new year are coming so a lot of preparation. But today I wanna talk for orange. Lately, I love to consume this fruit more than others. Here in Albania, everyone has in their garden at least 1 orange tree.
Here are some health benefits of orange:
1. Oranges contain phytochemicals that protect against cancer.
Oranges are rich in citrus limonoids, proven to help fight a number of varieties of cancer including that of the skin, lung, breast, stomach, and colon.
2. Orange juice can help prevent kidney diseases.
Drinking orange juice regularly prevents kidney diseases and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
Note: drink juice in moderate amounts. The high sugar content of fruit juices can cause tooth decay and the high acid content can wear away enamel if consumed in excess.
3. Mandarin oranges fight liver cancer, according to studies.
According to two studies in Japan eating mandarin oranges reduces liver cancer. This may be due in part to vitamin A compounds known as carotenoids.
4. Oranges lower cholesterol.
Since they’re full of soluble fiber, oranges are helpful in lowering cholesterol.
5. They are rich in potassium and boost heart health.
Oranges are full of potassium, an electrolyte mineral responsible for helping the heart function well. When potassium levels get too low, you may develop an abnormal heart rhythm, known as an arrhythmia.
6. They lower the risk of diseases.
Oranges are full of vitamin C, which protects cells by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals cause chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease.
While the orange fruit and flower serve the tree’s individual purpose of reproduction, they also provide nourishment to animals, including pollinating insects, and aesthetic, sensual, and nutritional values for human beings. Orange blossoms have been used in weddings and the orange oil has been used in the flavoring of food and drink and in adding fragrance to such products as a perfume, wood conditioners, and cleaning agents.
In ancient Egypt, artists used an orange mineral pigment called realgar for tomb paintings, as well as other uses.
It was also used later by Medieval artists for the coloring of manuscripts. Pigments were also made in ancient times from a mineral known as orpiment. Orpiment was an important item of trade in the Roman Empire and was used as a medicine in China although it contains arsenic and is highly toxic. It was also used as a fly poison and to poison arrows. Because of its yellow-orange colour, it was also a favorite with alchemists searching for a way to make gold, in both China and the West. Before the late 15th century, the color orange existed in Europe, but without the name; it was simply called yellow-red. Portuguese merchants brought the first orange trees to Europe from Asia in the late 15th and early 16th century. Here is a healthy recipe to prepare.
Orange 🍊Cumin Roast Chicken🍗
-
8 pieces of chicken I used legs and thighs
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic smashed
- 5 sprigs of thyme
- 1 large navel orange. sliced
- 2 cup of chicken stock
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 large purple onion
- 1 tablespoon toasted cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes add more to a spicy dish
- salt and pepper
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°.
-
Season chicken with salt and pepper. Heat oil in an ovenproof skillet (with lid) over high heat. Add chicken skin side down and cook until golden brown, then turn and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet. Drain excess fat from skillet.
-
Reduce heat to medium-high. Add the cumin seeds, lightly toast- careful not to burn. Melt butter then add garlic. Cook for a minute until softened. Add stock and orange juice. Bring to simmer, scraping the bottom of the skillet to mix the brown bits into the liquid. Simmer for 2 minutes.
-
And return chicken to the skillet, skin side up. Add oranges, red pepper flakes, thyme, and onion. Cover with lid, then transfer to the oven. Bake for 60 minutes, covered, then remove the lid and bake for a further 15 minutes to add color to the skin. The chicken should be tender.
-
Remove chicken or move to the side. Taste and season with salt and pepper.
-
Garnish with plenty of parsley or fresh thyme. Serve with rice, potatoes or roasted vegetables.
-
Enjoy!🍴

About vitamin C, I got info that one of fruits which name called “Salak”, is also full vitamin C. You may search in Google.
